Denis Yris, Founder and CEO of WORTEV, leads the panel “Mexico and the Regional Economy: Perspectives and Opportunities” alongside top financial leaders
During the 2025 edition of WOBI Mexico, one of Latin America’s leading business and leadership forums, Denis Yris, Founder and CEO of WORTEV, moderated the panel “Mexico and the Regional Economy: Perspectives and Opportunities”.
He was joined by María Ariza, CEO of the Institutional Stock Exchange (BIVA), and Pau Messeguer Gally, Director of Economic Analysis at Banco Multiva.
The session brought together business leaders, investors, and financial experts to discuss Mexico’s role amid current global challenges and explore the structural opportunities that could define the country’s economic future.
Global Context and Structural Challenges
The discussion opened with a reflection on the contrasting economic landscape of 2025 — a year marked by moderate growth, geopolitical tensions, and uneven signs of recovery.
Panelists agreed that while Mexico maintains macroeconomic stability, the country must translate that stability into stronger business confidence and long-term investment capacity.
As Denis Yris noted:
“The real challenge is not attracting capital, but being ready to receive it. Mexico has talent, market, and vision, but it lacks structure. Most companies are not yet prepared to operate under institutional standards or attract formal financing. If we don’t fix that, even the best economic cycle could pass us by.”
Nearshoring, USMCA, and Business Competitiveness
In the second part of the panel, attention turned to Mexico’s role in nearshoring and the upcoming review of the USMCA.
Panelists highlighted Mexico’s strategic location and human capital as key assets to position the country as a regional hub for manufacturing, innovation, and trade, provided it strengthens its financial and institutional foundations.
María Ariza emphasized the importance of deepening capital markets and promoting greater access to financing.
Pau Messeguer pointed out that Mexico needs a long-term industrial policy and stronger domestic demand to ensure sustainable and inclusive growth.
“Mexico has location, talent, and stability,” added Yris, “but the question is whether we have a long-term strategy to sustain this opportunity.”
Capital Rewards Preparation, Not Intention
As the conversation concluded, Denis Yris delivered a powerful message:
“Capital does not reward intention, it rewards preparation. Mexico is at a turning point: it must professionalize its business base or risk missing the train. Evolving the future by empowering companies is not just our motto, it is an economic necessity.”
He emphasized that sustainable growth requires connecting talent, market, and discipline to build companies capable of scaling and generating meaningful economic and social impact.
