A public-private collaboration to strengthen local entrepreneurship and promote sustainable economic development in Mexico
Chetumal, Quintana Roo – May 7, 2025.
With the goal of strengthening the state’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, the Government of Quintana Roo, through its Ministry of Economic Development (SEDE), in collaboration with the Center for Competitiveness of Mexico (CCMX), the business accelerator WORTEV, and the Quintana Roo Youth Institute, officially launched CREO MX Quintana Roo — an initiative designed to foster training, connectivity, and growth for entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across the region.
This 100% collaborative program is part of the New Agreement for Well-being and Development of Quintana Roo, promoted by Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa, and aims to close inequality gaps by creating more opportunities for sustainable business development.
Empowering Entrepreneurs with Capital and Mentorship
More than 300 participants, including young professionals, entrepreneurs, business owners, and strategic partners, took part in the launch event.
As part of the program, authorities announced the creation of a business incubation initiative with access to up to 325,000 pesos in seed capital, designed to help emerging entrepreneurs develop and consolidate innovative business projects.
WORTEV, as a strategic partner, will provide guidance and acceleration programs focused on professionalization, financial structure, and scalable business models, enabling participants to transform their ideas into profitable, long-term enterprises.
“CREO MX is a key platform that provides practical tools to those who believe in building a more prosperous Quintana Roo. We celebrate CCMX’s decision to host this initiative in Chetumal and encourage entrepreneurs to take full advantage of this opportunity for growth and development,” said Paul Carrillo de Cáceres, Secretary of Economic Development of Quintana Roo.
Inclusive and Sustainable Growth
Alongside the main program, MetLife and ProMujer hosted a women’s health fair, offering clinical breast exams, wellness awareness, and free screenings for weight, glucose, and blood pressure, as well as 100 mammogram studies.
A tax assistance module from the Mexican Tax Administration Service (SAT) was also installed, providing on-site support to entrepreneurs and small business owners. In parallel, the Mercadito Emprendedor (Entrepreneur Market) showcased products from 15 local entrepreneurs in Chetumal, creating opportunities for visibility, networking, and new partnerships that strengthen the local economy.
Driving Economic Diversification and Resilience
During his remarks, Paul Carrillo de Cáceres emphasized the need to diversify the state’s sources of growth, acknowledging Quintana Roo’s strong economic potential beyond tourism.
CREO MX Quintana Roo, he said, represents a path toward more resilient, sustainable, and innovative businesses, with real impact on the lives of those who drive the state’s productive economy.
